Always loved Dexter...sounds like he quoted Flying Home at the tail end of his chorus
"piano solo " Cameraman : see that drummer very cool
Wow .🥂

VP Kamala just referred Mingus out front of vinal store
This is the first tune I learned to read music with, circa 1981. I first learned it on piano from a Fake Book. Decades later, I have learned to play it on harmonicas, on both diatonic and chromatic harps. My unrequited love number one, Joni Mitchell, wrote lovely lyrics for this tune. This is the ultimate "moody ballad". I practice it every day, always making new solos. I'm amused that some think this a difficult tune to play.
In the 70’s Dexter had a leopard vest he’d wear it alot ☺️
Fabuloso Adams!!!
I’m learning this song in 12 keys. I just opened Pandora’s box. So I’m super happy!
That trumpet solo was dope 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Mingus mad genius, Don can’t stop , won’t stop . This swings mad …..wow
This is a slightly different version of this tune than most play today. But if anyone has the right to change it, well Mingus wrote it, so he can do whatever the hell he wants.
Kenny Drew is killing it on the piano
The absolute coolest entrance ever...
❤ 1:01 3:18
Mingus Dynasty
I will never forget him....what a inspiration on The Tenor... this how a real man plays a tenor saxophone ..in your face, take no prisoners,...no doubts.... beautiful, prophetic....The Angel Gabriel might of blown it the same way.
Thats fucking textbook A grade stuff
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing!
Boss moves this is awesome

This is Remember Rockfeller at Attica, the title is wrong.
La interpretación en vivo añade una dimensión adicional a la pieza, ya que permite a los músicos explorar y expandir el material musical en tiempo real.
Charles Minus died in Mexico I love his music
Po prostu GENIUSZ i zaliczany do najlepszych muzyków Jazzowych jak : Webster , Lester ,Chat, Getz i lista jest długa ! Pozostaną w naszej pamięci, miód dla uszu i duszy 😅❤ 🎷
Damn he had a dope ass voice when he was younger
Dexter is the master of tone, so thick and jucy! His phrasing is like dripping honey, hmmm... 🤩
Good God! Comments from 5 yrs ago? Really? It makes me feel special.
Glad to see someone still here
@myfakegoldchain1404 Thanks for your reply, but I'm not "still here." I'm embarrassed to say this is new to me. I'm 69 now and never had a phone until a year ago. My main exposure to Gordon and jazz over the years was listening to the radio on Saturday nights (Tulsa University; 89.5). Now I'm hearing stuff like this for the first time. Forgive me for rambling, but if I've never heard some music before, then it's new to me. And that's what counts. I'm glad to be in your company.
Excellent
I saw Dex live in concert one time in the 1980s. He had the most commanding presence of any performer I've ever seen.
This is absolutely my favorite version of Night in Tunisia
Yep😎

Cut mid piano solo! What rude. Before Mingus solos! Outrage!
My kitchen window is open tonight. Welcome to the neighborhood!
I’m movin’ to your neighborhood!
@@jamesa.smith.7794 Thanks from Tulsa.
Dexter looked so cool ,immaculately dressed ,walking in from the street like that.
Stylish
sensational band, Dexter, the man!
❤
A masterpiece!
Thanks for posting! Great listening,timeless!!
Thanks for posting!
It just seems always sounding great when Dexter is blowing!
Just imagine playing with that tone
One thing I want to point out too is the outstanding technique Dexter had. At 1:20, notice his fingers. They are barely coming off the keys
느무좋으다🤦🏻♂️
Musicians never played so good as when they played with Mingus. Nobody could ever figure it out.
